Our son has been reading since he was 2 years old and as soon as we gave him a Kano Computer, he was hooked on Programming and learning about computers. So when we started school officially, the first thing he wanted was to take a Programming Class.
Programming in Kindergarten
We are Homeschooling using K12.com but they do not offer classes for children under 3rd grade, so I decided to put a Curriculum together myself.
I worked to tailor the program to my son’s interests as much as possible while keeping it fun and educational. I also wanted to help him build a foundation of computer knowledge that he could use for a lifetime.
It also helped that I had just learned how to program myself in the last year, so I treated this as a See One, Do One, Teach One opportunity.
I started with the basics, What is a Computer? and How they work? Then the basics of Linux. Followed by the basics of Programming using Scratch and HTML.
That’s what I do. How about you?
